|a pretty a day is here and away|

Documenting life's beauty, as seen through the eyes of a lady blessed with everything a girl could dream of, and more: five gorgeous kids, patient and providing husband, an adorable dog, a very cheeky frog, and still time enough to get crafty and creative in the kitchen or with my trusty needles, thread and yarn!
The joys of being Queen of the household! Rejoice, and the world joins in!

Munchies and crunchies

With everyone in the roost up early and trotting out of the home pretty quick this morning, I was left with Kimmie dearest (who took the liberty of keeping me company, forsaking her schoolmates on what was actually her sports day at school) and Benjiboy. When the home is quiet and in its full tranquil state, what better thing to do but... WHIP UP A STORM IN THE KITCHEN!

Lunch was a fuss-free affair (all the better to keep the rare peace). Kim trotted over to the next block to pick up some groceries at our beloved Gek Poh Shopping Centre.

Our plan: to whip up quick bites making use of whatever she picked.

The challenge: hoping that Kim would remain as sane as possible and not go on a sweet candy rampage.

Her choice picks: potatoes, pumpkins, coriander.

You gotta trust Kim with Western dishes, she's got a natural flair! (Hmm... time for Homemaker Training 101???)

Seasoned and popped in the oven!

Love this bit. Best thing about an oven is the way the aroma of the fooooood just fills the whole home. I love it when freshly-baked bread or scones or cakes or savoury snacks like these are baking or sizzling slowly as I sip at a lil coffee on the sofa (which, by the way, i reupholstered, completely DIY and minimum fuss)!

And in line with eating healthy and general well-being...

My fish friends were treated to some fresh basil and dil to nibble at - fresh from my lil herb patch! Those fish sure have it good!

Swimmingly (to borrow Mel's word),

Daddy Dearest!

Today's pretty: Alfred!

"You could read quite a story, in the callouses and lines.
Years of work and worry had left their mark behind.

Daddy's hands were soft and kind when I was cryin´.
Daddy´s hands, were hard as steel when I´d done wrong.
Daddy´s hands, weren´t always gentle
But I´ve come to understand.
There was always love in Daddy´s hands."

Quilting quilting quilting... in three short seconds!

Online shoppin' turned online stitching just for a lil while!

Recently submitted a teensytiny lil' square to the BBC's virtual quilt, and here it is in all its teensyweensy splendour!

Spot it? Had to be tiny in accordance to the size BBC specified!

Stitch, stitch, stitchin' away! Thinking of creating an online store for my knits and crafts but oh all the bother and fuss... ;)'

Probably best sticking to gifting them!!! Like I intend to do with the current creation I'm keeping a surprise for Mils :)

Secretly,
Yol
